What it is: RivaLibera is a system that have two purposes. The first consist in a service that allows the user to find the nearest free riva, computing where there are few bridge to reach the delivery location. The second, looking for create a little community, allows the user to socialize with friends during waiting time, profitably and enjoyably.
How it works: In a normally day, happen that a boat-man (trasportatore), must to deliver some things in a zone of Venice that is very far from Tronchetto, like Castello sestriere. He takes his mobile and consult the map of Venice and in the same time looks for the riva if is busy or free. He can reserve the riva or change destination. In the case in which trasportatore must to wait a lot of time (for example 30 min), he can check on his mobile how many other trasportatori stay near him. In fact the second purpose of thi software is to allow to trasportatore to socialize with other friends-trasportatori during the waiting time. |
Concept: Trasportatori is a category of nomad workers that work in Venice. They are the lorry drivers of the Lagoon.They carry all kinds of things around the city. Their means of transport is the “mototopo” (a typical Venetian boat).Their work is carried out all through the day and sometimes during the night or even on bank holidays - and in all weathers. Usually the goods are uploaded at Tronchetto because the lorries arrive there from the country.The main problem of the trasportatori is to find the delivery location and the nearest free riva (mooring) to offload the merchandise. If the riva they need is busy, they often have to wait about for a long time before they can moor and unload their boat.
